I was reading this story over at iO9 and a thought popped in my head.

At the end of Infinity War Steve Rogers mutters “Oh, God”. What if in that moment he realizes what happened, half the universe died, and he was still alive. What if he had hoped if it happened that he would have died as well? He has exisited for a long time. Fought many fights. What if he is tired and would like to pass on like those he was born with. What if he had secretly hoped that he would be in the half that died?

I agree with you, everyone is coming back. And I’m guessing everyone, not just the ones that died at the end. They already showed us how it was going to be done when Thanos got the mind stone from Vision by reversing time using the time stone.

I hated this film. Now, with that statement, I am not arguing it is a bad film. I realize it is incredibly well shot, the dialog is brilliant, and the action sequences are some of the best ever put to film.
I dislike when heroes fail as a general concept. I adore the first Captain America movie (Hayley Atwell doesn’t hurt either). I refuse to watch Civil War. I don’t care that mom and dad are fighting over a good cause, the real world is horrible enough. I prefer to watch movies where the good guys show up and kick the bad guys asses. And Thanos strolls into town and just owns on everyone. Well, half of everyone.
Sure, sure, it’s comics, and everyone dusted comes back in the next movie. I don’t care. I did not grow up reading comics, so all these conventions are new to me and I would rather watch something where evil gets beaten soundly.
I was however surprised that Evan’s Cap was spared as I fully expected him to be killed/sacrifice himself to save others.

Maybe he says, “Oh, God,” because he realizes that Thanos is the Abrahamic God and that the universe deserves His judgement?

Oh yeah. Nothing is ever permanent in comics. Forgot.

Very interesting. I see what you’re saying. Most people including myself loved the movie exactly for the reasons you have mentioned. It was not a usual Villain shows up in act 1, heroes look like the fail in part 2, Heroes find a way to beat the villain and save the day in act 3. They give him the proper motivation and made us understand why he is doing what he is doing and he can kill everyone in a second and kick anyone’s ass because that is who he is. He is the ultimate final level boss in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
But don’t worry the heroes will regroup in Avengers 4 and they will win against him at the cost of great sacrifices (I predict Cap and Tony) and you’ll get what you desire, but it will be bittersweet.

One theory I found interesting is that all the people who ashed are set to have sequels, and that Thanos didn’t succeed in killing them, he just split the MCU into a Multi-Verse.
